Hurlbert History
The Hurlbert tradition of quality service and customer care began back in 1950 when Paul Hurlbert started out as a salesman for a small Mercury dealership inCambridge,MA. A soon to be married 21 year old US Army veteran, Paul quickly discovered it was not the best of times to start a career in the automobile industry. After working as General Manager of the Mercury dealership he went on the road from 1958-1968 for US Rubber (Uniroyal) and continued to develop his skills as a salesman, made important contacts, helped raise his family and eventually rose to the ranks of senior manager.

From 1968-1971 Paul worked as Vice President and General Mgr for a Ford dealership inSomerville,MA. On May 20, 1971 in Reading MA Paul finally realized his 20 year dream as he opened the doors to his very first dealership at Hurlbert Datsun! Within the first year of operation, Hurlbert Datsun became the number one Datsun dealership inNew England! Over the years the Hurlberts moved and soon the Hurlbert name was on dealerships in other MA cities as well asExeterandStrathamNH. Eventually all the dealerships were sold with the exception of theToyotadealership which would find its home inStrathamNH.

Today Jeff & Roy Hurlbert, two of Paul’s sons, run the newestToyotadealership located inEpping,NH. Many of Paul’s grandchildren also have found a place here at the family business! As of December 2011,Hurlbert Toyota is ranked #1 in entire nationfor Sales Satisfaction Index based on the last 3 months’ survey scores and #2 in the district for Service & Parts Satisfaction Index! We hope to continue improving and holding onto the family values that have kept the Hurlberts in business for the last 40 years!
